Think about this for a moment...
Your web site may actually be COSTING you business, NOT helping attract it!
As more and more people become "internet-savvy" (including baby-boomers like me!), they develop a certain set of expectations about their web experience. Especially in relation to companies they may choose to do business with.
Chances are, you've visited Google, Amazon, eBay or other leading web sites in the last couple of months. The sites have been built to draw you in and provide a certain level of comfort about the organization.
Can you say the same about your site?
I am not saying that you have to invest millions of dollars in your site like these companies do. However, I am saying that you have to keep the site updated with relevant information about the products and services your business offers within a design that lends trust and credibility. A web site evolves as the business evolves and time must be dedicated to making that happen.
Here are some signs your web site is stuck and needs a tune-up:
- Your copyright date still says 1999
- Your product catalog still lists products that haven't been made for 5 years
- Your navigation within the site is non-existent
- You talk about "using e-mail to communicate" like it was just invented last year
- Your last entry in "What's New" is from 2003
- Your e-mail address is something like racingdude36@aol.com - how professional is that?
Remember, you only have a few short seconds to attract a visitors' attention. Make the most of that time and invest in a web site that attracts instead of distracts.

that's really true. there's always a need for a site to be updated.

if this is the case, a site should be redesigned and be SEO friendly for it to be ranked on search engines.
